East Moor opened in 1942 as part of No4 Group, Bomber Command and the first unit (if only briefly) to arrive was 158 Squadron from Driffield. We say briefly, as the base was designated for use by the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF). In 1943 the base and it's residents were transferred to No6 Group RCAF and East Moor became No62 RCAF Base. In May 1945, No54 OTU moved in with Mosquito NF30's with the purpose of training night fighter crews. 1946 saw the OTU move to Leeming and the base closed.
These days nothing much remains as most of the site has returned to agriculture and the pictures will give you an idea of what remains.
